Artist Statement:
I paint portraits that exist between observation and distortion. My work is informed by an academic background in Art History, yet it is driven by a visceral interest in the physical presence of the body—how flesh is stretched, aged, and unsettled.
I am drawn to the tension found in subtle irregularities: elongated necks, shifting proportions, and the raw honesty of a wrinkled face. These elements allow me to move beyond simple representation, exploring womanhood not as a fixed ideal, but as a fluid, often contradictory experience. By contrasting saturated skin tones against muted, atmospheric backgrounds, I aim to create a space where myths and individual histories overlap.
For me, painting is a space for investigation. Whether working with classical composure or fragmented forms, my goal is to disrupt the viewer’s expectations and capture the psychological charge that lies beneath the surface.
